Plenty of action in the Van den Berg Family (De Poolse Bergen)!
Reactions to my blog from the end of October “New heights and views in the Van den Berg Family (De Poolse Bergen)!”, and also an earlier post on Facebook, were overwhelming, sweet, spontaneous, very happy and therefore… fully in line with what Tatiana and I have experienced from the moment we met!
A big thank you for all those expressions of involvement, all those warm reactions and all those congratulations!
And where family and friends, in all possible forms and variations, have opened their hearts, for us an action program has started… Because yes, getting engaged is something you do with the prospect of getting married, and that does not happen automatically. Certainly not when it concerns two foreigners in a “third country”, with four languages that play a role. Many of the elements of the “roadmap” that should lead to a day that we not only want to experience as unforgettable, but above all of great value, require extra attention, and then we haven’t even mentioned all the formalities… At the end of November we already visited the civil registry in the Netherlands with a stack of (original!) documents, and a visit to the only Belarusian consulate in Poland (near the Belarusian border) is planned for mid-January, where the waiting time for a final declaration that Tatiana still needs is not more than half a year…
But in between we combine all that bureaucracy of apostilles and sworn translations with pleasure: such as a visit to the always beautiful old town of Delft (where I went to university), getting to know the Dutch family, and… noticing how we are getting along with each other in a wonderful way!
On March 15th we hope to formalize this attunement to each other, and we’re doing everything we can to make it above all a very joyful day. Everything is taking shape more and more – You will undoubtedly hear and see more of it soon!
